İZMİR NEW MUSIC DAYS-I
The first edition of the festival presented a selection of repertory not often found in the concert scene of this country, by staging contemporary composers whose works are informed by the mid-century modernism, whose works follow the path to the new and the experimental. The festival consisted of three concerts and two workshops. We had the pleasure of welcoming Ensemble KNM-Berlin, and Ensemble Mosaik-Berlin, Yaşar University New Music Ensemble and Prof. Marco Stroppa.
Having a full concert hall for 3 days in a row, the continuous interest of the audience, and deep motivation of our students makes me think and feel that the after-effects of İzmir New Music Days will stay strong and last long. My personal image of the whole event is something close to getting into a short, 3-day tunnel full of sound and finding one’s self at a completely different place at the end.
